Alliance spare themselves from relegation at OMEGA League
CMD368 – The play-in stage for a spot into the Immortal division playoffs of OMEGA League is on the menu and the first to fight were Alliance and FlyToMoon, who had a long day to pummel through.
After a rather dominant 2-0 victory Ninjas in Pyjamas in the Group B tiebreaker for the fourth place in the group, FTM were pitted against Alliance in the play-in stage which was basically their last chance to stick into the Immortal division. It all started well for them in the first game of the series as they ripped through Alliance in game one, courtesy of a strong ganking combo between a Batrider-Invoker and Tiny who managed to outmaneuver their adversaries Slark game plan. However, in game two they opened with the same Batrider – Tiny combo, but as the draft developed and Alliance had a few answers to the combo, FTM decided to switch the Bat to potion five and last pick Pangolier for the offlane. The decision seemed to be pretty detrimental and Alliance struck back with a vengeance, forcing a decisive game three in just 23 minutes.

Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov was targeted by FTM in the last game draft and dedicated four of their six bans to his heroes. Nonetheless, Alliance’s game plan was not all relying on Niko’s shoulders, but rather on their team fight initiation options with Simon “Handsken” Haag on Clockwerk and Gustav “s4” Magnusson on Darkseer, and both delivered incredible plays.
Without a doubt, the highlight of the match was Handsken’s four-man Hookshot counter initiation that shut down completely a five-man smoke gank from FTM to put Alliance in a superior position from there on.
Sadly for FTM, the 1-2 series loss comes with relegation into the Divine division lower bracket playoffs. By the end of today’s play-in stage matches they will be joined by one more team. Team Liquid versus 5MEN is the next and final series to decide which team gets relegated and which one advances to the Immortal playoffs.
