OG eliminate Team Liquid to secure Epic League Division 1 top three finish

CMD368 – Epic League Division 1 is approaching the final act as three teams are left in the battle for the title. While Virtus.pro and Vikin.gg are set to duel for a spot into the grand finals, OG have reached the lower bracket finals and are waiting for their opponent after taking Team Liquid out of contention.

The lower bracket semifinals, Team Liquid versus OG started with a signature Max “qojqva” Bröcker Broodmother, which took the double TI champions completely by surprise and as it was the very last pick of the draft, OG had to do their best to adapt and try to outmaneuver her in the game. Their response was to send Sébastien “Ceb” Debs in the mid lane on Mars, while Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen went offlane on Invoker. The lanes swap helped OG to keep the game somewhat balanced for the first 15 minutes, however, their safe lane Drow-Io duo suffered a couple of early deaths, which hurt a lot the team in the mid stage.

With Drow slightly under farmed, while Brood was already making the entire map her own territory at the 20-minute mark, with Aghanim’s Scepter on top of Diffusal Blade and BkB, OG ran out of options on how to prolong the game and had to admit defeat.

Liquid continued in game two to bring long time forgotten heroes into the battlefield and also tried to outplay OG straight from the laning phase by swapping their core players. Michael “miCKe” Vu went mid lane on Outworld Devourer, qojqva took Visage in the offlane, while Samuel “Boxi” Svahn was in the safe lane on Timbersaw .The lane swapping was meant to make the start of the game absolutely miserable for OG’s carry Ursa.

The task was fully accomplished, as two minutes into the game Yeik “MidOne” Zheng had zero experience and was struggling to hit a single creep. His abysmal start pushed Liquid into a tunnel vision phase in which they seemed to only hunt Ursa, leaving Ceb to develop into a true carry on Legion Commander. Liquid’s obsession with preventing any kind of item or level progression on Ursa came to haunt them past the 15-minute mark when Ceb was able to initiate with Blink Dagger- Blade Mail duels.

Headed into the final match of the series, OG came up with a powerful Io-Luna-Tusk trio for the safe lane and ensured an explosive start for Luna to snowball into a crushing 25 minutes victory.
